Men in Black Get Plate Back, 22 1/2 to 13 1/2

The 10th Annual Meeting of the World 100 Club was held in beautiful Pebble Beach, California in October 2013. Three days of glorious weather and marvelous golf courses made for a terrific event.

The first day of better ball matches was played on Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, and Spanish Bay and ended all square at 4 ½ to 4 ½. The West team, sporting their dashing black uniforms, stormed out to a lead during the Stableford Matches on the 2nd day. The West scored 6 and 1/2 points to the East's 2 and 1/2.
Down four matches going into Saturday, the East needed a big final day of singles matches to retain the plate. Instead the West scored 11 and 1/2 matches to the East's 6 and 1/2 to regain the Riley Plate in convincing fashion and avenge the savage beat down they suffered at the hands of the East at the Golden Horseshoe in 2012.

World 100 Club rookie Mike Kerr won all three of his matches to snag the MVP Jug for the West. East Captain Steve Anthony showed gritty determination to win his final day singles match for his second point of the event. He was awarded the East Jug for his inspirational play. James Varnam shot in the 70s all three rounds and secured his third World 100 Club Vase.
